past week, the city of Detroit experienced heavy rain after a thunderstorm left
the area soaked and eventually led to highway closures due to flooding. It
wasn’t just one, but several scattered storms that left quite the impression on
the city of Detroit. One report said that the storm produced a wide variety of
downpour –from light showers to ¾ of an inch of rain per hour!
Many cars ended up getting stuck on the highway, their vehicles submerged in a flood that reached up to 14 ft. of water. The highway flooding caused several problems –drivers were either stuck in their cars or managed to escape and just leave their cars there. The city of Detroit ended up gathering a dive team to get a count of how many cars were submerged on the highway. Finally on Thursday, the highways were officially reopened and things went back to normal. Unfortunately, flood damage to your vehicle is hard to escape when submerged in water. Flood damage can range from issues with your motor, electronic units and connections, battery loss, engine and transmission problems, clutch problems, steering problems and so on.
