Cops Crack Down On Curfew for 4th of July Fireworks in Detroit

The city of Detroit takes the safety of their citizens and visitors seriously and this 4th of July, law enforcement placed their focus on regulating curfews. The 56th annual Ford Fireworks on the River event took place on Monday, June 24th and brought a large amount of people out, young and old. Due to this, police decided to crack down on the curfews set in place for the cities youths. In an effort to keep them and the city safe, teens 17 and younger were required to be accompanied by an adult between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Although many were against the stricter curfew, the police department was confident that was the best way to ensure safety for the youth in Detroit. Unfortunately, the police department ended up detaining 148 juveniles and around 87 went home with citations anyway. Despite the detainments and citations, law enforcement agrees that the 56th annual Ford Fireworks on the River event ended on a great note!

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Stars Sued for Dog Bite Attack

According to DogsBite.org, about 1,000 people in the U.S. need emergency care for a dog bite injury. It’s important that dog owners and those who find themselves in the presence of dogs follow tips that will help them stay safe. As a dog owner, it’s important that you keep your dog on a leash when in public and you properly train them to avoid outbursts of aggression. With both dog owners and those who don’t have dogs but are around dogs, it’s important to supervise the dog at all times, especially around children. Children tend to smother dogs with love which can be misinterpreted, setting the dog off into a possible attack. Educate yourselves on how dogs like to be treated and how they don’t like to be treated. This will help when it comes to avoiding an unnecessary accident.

In the case of Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney, two of the stars of the hit comedy show ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia that airs on FX, the couples dog bit a toddler while being off of its leash during a Father’s Day party back in 2012. Now, the family of the victim is suing Olson and McElhenney for their child’s injuries. According to the report, the toddler didn’t provoke the dog in any way and the child will likely be scarred for life. This case proves that even if dogs are not seemingly aggressive, it’s always possible they can attack. The best way to ensure pet safety is to keep your dog on a leash andsupervised at all times if not in the home. It’s never okay to let the dog off the leash in public, no matter how docile and friendly they are.

GM Fixes Ignition Switch Defect

In February of this year, GM had to recall about 2.6 million vehicles due to an ignition switch defect. The defect occurred when the switch would slip out of the “run” position and shut down the entire engine. As a result of this one defect, 13 total deaths occurred.

According to the company, the problem was misdiagnosed and those who were responsible didn’t act with enough urgency to fix the issue. Because of that, 15 employees were let go and GM had to pay $35 million in fines –the largest fine ever reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration –for failing to report the problem. Luckily, the company is working tirelessly to resolve the issue and pay the victims of this negligence and their families the proper compensation for what occurred.
