Michigan Voters Believe Road Conditions Are Worse Than Ever

This winter season has brought a lot of hard cold weather to the state of Michigan. With record low temperatures, the roads have definitely seen better days. Around 80% of voters in Michigan say the road conditions have only gotten worse in the past year after the harsh winter and “political stagnation over paying for improvements.”

This month, the state Senate started debate over whether they will increase the amount of spending for a road funding package that will go a long way in improving road conditions. 85% of voters think the state isn’t spending enough on roads and 68% are in favor of paying $10 more a month in fees and taxes in order to repair the roads in Michigan. In a state like Michigan, the weather makes the road conditions even more important. In Detroit, 60% of drivers said that either they or a member of their family had gone through a road-related damage to their cars. The state hopes to finalize plans to improve their roads before the summer.
